Birmingham: The Quarterworkshop

On Friday I had the opportunity to explore The Quarterworkshop - a beautiful, beautiful place in the very heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. The Quarterworkshop is a quaint little studio run by Victoria who teaches the art of silversmithing and goldsmithing.

You can find the studio in the old Coffin Works (what used to be a coffin furniture factory, whaaa) and just the environment itself makes your heart skip a little. I tried capturing the feel of Victoria’s studio in the pictures below but you won’t really get it until you’re there. It’s so charming - with tools for silversmithing and blooming flowers everywhere. You can join a number of (very affordable!) workshops via Victoria’s website here but the main one that took my fancy is the one where couples make their own wedding rings. What a wonderful idea! You get to sit in such an authentic pretty place with your loved one learning something new together and silversmithing your very own and one of a kind wedding ring. I mean, it won’t get more romantic than that, will it?
