With so many things happening in Birmingham it’s become a little hard to keep up! Especially when it comes to the retail scene - you have the everyone’s already favourite Grand Central, the only just opened Mailbox and the VAT-free Resorts World. Not mentioning all the other little shops popping up during this big Brum retail boom. One of the slightly more rare clothes shops I’ve come across is Jacques Vert - the elegant British brand.
To give you a little background (and shed some light on the confusing title of this post), let me tell you something about history of Jacques Vert. The brand was founded in 1977 by two British businessmen - Alan Green & Jack Cynamon. Together they created what the market was after at that time - a range of co-ordinated fashion for women with a little French twist (hence Jacques Vert, geddit?). Everything in Jacques Vert is perfectly tailored, beautifully embellished and without a doubt you will find a matching set of everything. The shop stores a number of different collaborative ranges such as Windsmoor & Paul Costelloe or Kaliko which has a slightly more distinct feminine flare for younger women.
You can find Jacques Vert in Grand Central (right at the Stephenson Street entrance to the station) and keep your eyes peeled because they currently have a blue cross sale with pieces being reduced from about £200 to mere £50 (yup, true story!).
